OUR MISSION

Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights Action Fund (COLOR AF) is a community-rooted non-profit organization that works to enable Latinx individuals and their families to lead safe, healthy and self-determined lives by holding elected officials accountable to our issues and electing people who support our mission.

OUR VISION

COLOR Action Fund works to ensure that Latinx individuals and their families are accessing opportunities and resources for the health of mind, body and spirit.

OUR VALUES

We value justice and equity for all people: creating an awareness of intersectionality and the ways it is used to either support or marginalize Latinx communities. We are community rooted and work to create intergenerational opportunity and leadership. We model sex positivity and support Latinx individuals' right to make their own decisions.

Issue Advocacy

and Lobbying

We work to oppose policies that cause harm and advance policies to meet our community’s needs. We do so by activating volunteers to contact elected officials at the local, state and federal level; building cross movement coalitions; and maintaining a strong presence at the state legislature to make an impact on key legislation.

Accountability

We keep people informed about the statements and actions of elected and appointed officials through traditional and social media, as well as community organizing. We hold decision makers accountable in order to build power on our issues.

Community Organizing

and Engagement

We invest in creating an active, growing network of base leaders to leverage our collective strength, maintaining an inter-generational approach while bringing young and Latinx people’s voices into the political process.

Candidate Endorsements

and Electoral Programming

via the COLOR Action Fund Small Donor Committee. This SDC is the only entity in Colorado who endorses candidates using a Reproductive Justice framework, and the only entity within COLOR AF which can financially contribute directly to these candidate campaigns to support.

ABOUT COLOR ACTION FUND

COLOR Action Fund launched in May of 2018, in order to support the work of COLOR and to make a larger impact on the political process while amplifying the voices of Latinxs and their allies. Colorado first elected a Latino to the State Legislature in 1920, the first Latina in 1974, and has only elected 2 Latinos to represent the state at the Federal level. The Latinx community makes up 22% of Colorado’s state population, yet the State Legislature is only 13% Latinx. COLOR Action Fund works to address this imbalance by creating the infrastructure to identify and support community leaders, increase Latinx representation in elected offices, build political influence and to reframe the narrative around our issues to ultimately pass policy that empowers our communities.   Our programming is dedicated to identifying members for COLOR Action Fund in key target areas across Colorado, and to activate members of the Latinx community to become vocal advocates, volunteers, and eventually Reproductive Justice candidates for office at every level.
